Yesterday, June 8th the Asociación Caralluma, town of  Caravaca de la Cruz festival showed our short film, Campos Secretos, twice.  First to one hundred children of 12 to 15 years and then to adults and high school youths.  After each screening Antonio Cerdan, co-producer, and I answered questions and I also talked about film making. Amalia Sanz, costume designer and her husband Mario, our famous light house keeper, also came.

Ayer, 8 de junio, el festival de Asociación Caralluma, pueblo Caravaca de la Cruz mostró nuestro cortometraje, Campos Secretos, en dos ocasiones. Primero a cien niños de 12 a 15 años y luego a adultos y jóvenes de secundaria. Después de cada proyección, Antonio Cerdan, coproductor, y yo respondimos preguntas y también hablamos sobre cómo hacer cine. También acudieron Amalia San, diseñadora de vestuario y su marido Mario, nuestro famoso farero.

As always, the children asked great questions and many of the adults confessed to having tears at the end of the film. A number of the elder audience said the film depicted exactly their life as children.

Como siempre, los niños hicieron grandes preguntas y muchos de los adultos confesaron haber llorado al final de la película. Una parte de la audiencia mayor dijo que la película representaba exactamente su vida cuando eran niños.

Caralluma is famous for its role as a border town in the Moors/Christian wars of the 1400’s, for deep religious activities, for making sandels and farming. There is still the castle sitting on a hill on top of the town, many historic streets and the annual June festival is rich with pageantry.

Caralluma es famosa por su papel como ciudad fronteriza en las guerras entre moros y cristianos del siglo XV, por sus profundas actividades religiosas, por la elaboración de sandels y la agricultura. Todavía está el castillo sentado en una colina en la cima de la ciudad, muchas calles históricas y el festival anual de junio es rico en pompa.

The cultural society have invited the film to be part of their October short film festival and they gave us a tour of the town. The environmental festival invited us to a tapas lunch in the cellar of bar in a medieval building.

La sociedad cultural ha invitado a la película a formar parte de su festival de cortometrajes de octubre y nos han dado una vuelta por el pueblo. La fiesta medioambiental nos invitó a un almuerzo de tapas en la bodega de un bar en un edificio medieval.

It is unusual to see Spanish priests in traditional robes, but they still wear them in Caralluma.

Es inusual ver sacerdotes españoles con túnicas tradicionales, pero todavía las usan en Caralluma.
